Multi Cubicle Ring Main Unit - Type LCA

Malco's Air insulated ALBS panels are designated LCA for L(LBS panel) - C (Cable incoming/outgoing) A(Air Insulated).

If a LCA unit air load break witch, it is further designated LCA-A, and if it houses a gas load break witch it is designated LCA-G, finally if it houses a vacuum circuit breaker it is designated LCA-V.

LCA panels are all indoor / outdoor systems which are extendable so they can be combined to build larger distribution switchboards or ring main units (RMUs)

All LCA-A, LCA-G and LCA-V can be combined in series or parallel connection to build a whole switch board system. This allows for more economical solutions where smaller loads are protected by switches with lower breaking capacity whereas higher loads are protected by switches with higher breaking capacity.

LCA-A12/24 Load Break Switch Panels

Panels housing LBS are commonly used as incoming units or as isolator units.

The LBS/use combination is used usually as transformer protection units for transformers of ratings less than 800 kVA.

LCA-V 12/24 Load Break Switch Panels

The LCA housing with the LK-VCB of SF6 will protect transformers up to a rating of 5000 kVA. With the panel equipped with surge arresters current protection relays for overload and short circuit protection with CT, PT and IDMT and OCR Relays.

 

 
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Circuit Breaker Compartment
The metal shutter segreagate the VCB isolating moveable contact from the main busbar when the breaker is in the withdrawn or isolated position. The shutter activated automatically by the mechanical movement of the circuit reaker and constructed in two distinct parts for segregation of the feeder side and the busbar. A transparent window which is made of high impact material allowed the movement of VCB to be seen.

Low Voltage Circuit Compartment

The instrument compartment is placed on the upper front part of each cubicle, above the circuit breaker compart, emt amd accessed by opening a hinge door. The compartment size is 800 mm x 800 mm to make sure it is sufficient to install metering and protection relay. A plate indicating the function and minic single line diagram can be showed on the compartment.

The busbar compartment place in the top rear part of the panel and contained the copper busbar system mounded on insulting mono blocs. The busbars passed from cubicle to the other without intermediate partition between them, to make it a continous busbar system.

Circuit Breaker Design

The VS1 VCB is a 3 phase, AC 50Hz or AC 60Hz, withdrawable type, rated voltage range from 11-33kV. The vacuum interrupter of robust construction capable to withstand the internal pressure which is produced by short circuit fault. The rated short time withstand current of the breaker able to withstand from 20kA/4sec to 40kA/4s.

VS1 VCB has reliable mechanical, electrical long live cycle and has been teested in compliance with the following standards:

IEC 298, IEC 185, IEC 282, IEC 529, IEC 186, IEC 56, IEC 129. DL 404, DL 403091, GB 1984-89, GB 3906, JB 3855 - 1996.
